This chart displays the count of first year staff and total staff employed during specific years. Yearly data can be viewed at the State level, or at an individual or collection of Staff Type(s) level (such as Administrator or Teacher). The data may be further refined by selecting a Specific Postion (such as Regular Education Teacher or Special Education Teacher), or a combination of types and postions.

The data source is the Basic Educational Data Survey (BEDS) fall submission.

Definitions

1. Staff: Includes licensed staff only, those individuals who are required to be licensed according to Iowa Administrative Rule 281-12.4 or the Board of Educational Examiners to perform their duties.
2. First Year Staff: Individual licensed staff who have been at their current position, district, or building for one year or less.
